What we collect
The intake collects your email, answers, and anything you choose to record or type. What you type and record is saved as you go, so nothing is lost if you close the page, and we keep your inquiry, including an unfinished one and its voice notes, until you ask us to delete it at daniel@familybound.com. We also count how many visitors reach each step of the form. When you give us your email, we keep the approximate city and state our network provider reports for that visit, never a street address, so we know roughly where our families write from. The intake is for adults.
If you follow an advertisement’s QR code or link, we count that visit and remember the first ad you came from for up to 90 days in a cookie on this site. For one of our search ads, a second cookie remembers which of our own keywords the ad matched. Neither cookie holds a personal identifier. When you inquire or buy, we keep the ad source with that record to understand which advertisements bring inquiries and sales.
On public pages, we record pages and examples viewed, approximate active reading time, scroll depth, selected links and form steps. A random browser identifier connects visits in the same browser, including return visits, and helps us associate a submitted form or purchase with the pages and advertisements that preceded it. We remember the first and most recent recognized ad source. This does not identify your activity on other websites or reliably connect different devices. Browser storage restrictions or deletion can break that connection. We do not record keystrokes or screen replays, and browsing a faith-related page is not treated as a statement of your religion.
When available, we also record the referring website’s domain, the destination domain of an external link you choose, your browser type, and measurements of loading speed and technical problems. When a browser tells us software is driving it, or its request contradicts itself, we also keep its full browser signature and the country our network provider reports for the connection, for the same 90 days, and we count requests whose browser identifies itself as a crawler, by that signature, country and page. Form diagnostics record steps and error categories, not the text you enter. We delete this additional diagnostic detail after 90 days during routine cleanup. We associate confirmed appointments and sales outcomes with your inquiry to understand which advertisements lead to useful conversations and work.
How we use and protect it
We use this data to respond, secure the service, perform requested work, improve the site and measure which advertisements lead to inquiries and purchases. We may email you about the request you began, and follow up on it. We may send occasional postal mail related to your case and our work to the billing address you provide. Ask us to stop anytime. We do not sell your information or share it for third-party marketing.
Trusted hosting, storage, email, and other service providers process information only as needed to run FamilyBound.
Card payments are processed by Stripe, which receives your name, email, card details and billing address to take the payment; we never see or store your card number.
Text messages
If you ask for texts at our booth, we send one to three messages about the search you requested, usually within a few weeks of the fair, and nothing on a schedule. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop, or HELP for our contact details.
We do not share your mobile number, or your consent to receive texts, with any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties. The full terms are at ajhpress.com/sms-terms.
Your family’s page
A family page is the private page a family receives when its book begins: the cover as it will print, the diary of the search, what is ahead, the first findings, and a place to send the photographs and stories the book should carry. Here is who can see it, what we keep, and what you can ask.
Who can see it. The people the family’s Keeper invites, and the Press. The Keeper is the family member organizing the book: the person we work with directly, and the one who decides who joins the circle. Nobody else. The page is never public, never listed by search engines, and never reachable by guessing an address. Each person signs in with a link sent to their own email address. Family members can ask for their family page’s link at ajhpress.com/family-sign-in. If the address entered isn’t on any family’s page, no link is sent, and Daniel is told the address with the time and approximate city so he can help a client who used a different address. An email left on the site’s purchase or contact forms is also checked against the family pages, so Daniel can point an existing client to theirs. The Keeper can end anyone’s access from the page, and we close the page when the family asks.
What the page holds, and whose it is. The book as it stands, the records behind it, and what the family sends: photographs, letters, recipes, stories, and the suggestions each person makes about the book. What you send stays your family’s property. It is kept in our own private storage, shown to the family’s circle on the page, and enters the book only with the family’s approval, which you give when you send it. Nothing is sold, nothing is shared beyond the circle, and nothing you send is fed to any system that trains on it.
What we keep. The names and email addresses of the circle; what each person sent, with the story they wrote for it; the suggestions each person makes about the book, which the family’s circle reads, along with what became of each one; when each person signed in; and a simple record of when the page is opened and which parts of it are looked at, so we know the book is reaching the family. We alone see that record. It is never shown to the family or to anyone else, and it carries no location and no details of your device. We keep it for as long as we keep the page, to make the family pages better. There is no advertising network and no outside analytics on a family page.
What you can ask. Write to daniel@familybound.com to see what we hold about you, to correct anything, to remove a piece you sent or a suggestion you made, to leave the circle, or to close the page.
Once the hardcover book is printed. The page stays open after the book is delivered, as the family’s window on it, for as long as the family wants it. What the family sent stays the family’s, and our copy is kept in our private storage for the book’s sake and shared with nobody.
